Description:
Cross made of two pieces of hardwood dovetailed together with incisions on the front.
Note Fr. Steele:
"Mission crosses were made como 'Recuerdos de Misiones' -- as reminders of the good resolutions resulting from the parish mission (like a revival in a Protestant church). Large ones--2' tall or so--were set up in the town plaza or on a prominent hill; this one was made for the wall of a home."
Note Fr. Steele:
Other mission crosses I know of offhand: north side of I-4 just into Tijeras Caáon, on edge of cliff just west of exits, dating from Fr. Roberto Libertini, S.J., mission at Carnuel about 1923; AbiquiiPlaza, 1888; next to the door on front of Sagrado Corazon Chapel, Watrous.
