Our Lady of the Suburb of Queretaro
Description:
A crowned Virgin wears a gown decorated with a botanical motif and an outstretched blue cape held on either lower edge by two cherubs. Our Lady rests on the central of three spheres held aloft by a Franciscan. The central image is framed by decorative zigzag and curvilinear ovals. Winged roses frame the image from the four corners of the retablo.

Pearce's typed comment on the item, c. 197: 'Nuestra Señora del Pueblecito. Purchased from the Las Vegas Collector who said the three balls at feet of figure represented villages of Bernalillo, Alameda, and Belen or Albuquerque! See Espinosa p. 38 pl 3: Our Lady of the Villages.' handwritten addition: 'Nuestra Señora de los Tres Pueblos. / Fr. Steele says that figure below spheres (worlds) is St. Francis. see tonsure. Steele says may be by Molleno [I was wrong]. See plate 31 Espinosa Queen of Heaven, La Reina del Cielo.'
