Grow, Smoke, Beaming
Description:
This one is special. This face, this gaze, this is how I imagine the Lord Jesus. This is His face for me in prayer. I created this piece while meditating with another Byzantine image of Christ - I'm constantly drawn to icons as artistic inspiration. This image is inspired by a beautiful moment in prayer where I was meditating specifically on the Holy Spirit and the Most Precious Blood of Christ. You can see this clearly in the free strokes and gray and red colors. The image also reminds me of the beauty and richness of liturgical incense. A piece inspired by artist Kelly Latimore's "Christ Among the Lilles". Also done at a coffee shop while with friends. So much joy while making this image. I love His gaze, how He's looking down on the viewer, His beloved.
